Industry ministry plans to launch food stamp program in 2017
MOSCOW, Feb 7 (PRIME) -- The Russian Industry and Trade Ministry plans to complete a program of targeted food aid with the Finance Ministry and launch it in 2017, Minister Denis Manturov said at a meeting of the ruling party United Russia on Tuesday.
He said that the program envisages provision of money equivalents which can be spent only on food or seeds produced in Russia.
“It will motivate people to buy healthy food and support entrepreneurs engaged in the agriculture. We hope very much that we will start the program this year,” Manturov said.
Investment in the Russian analogue of food stamps were earlier estimated at 140 billion rubles in 2017.
